Niekto po ceste zaznamená zašifrovanú komunikáciu. Prečítať ju zatiaľ nevie — a ani nemusí.

Dostatočne výkonný kvantový počítač by klasickú výmenu kľúčov (RSA, eliptické krivky) prelomil a záznam spätne rozšifroval. Post-kvantová výmena je navrhnutá tak, aby to nedokázal ani on.
Preto s tým počítajú aj úrady: americký NIST navrhuje klasické asymetrické šifrovanie (RSA, ECC) okolo roku 2030 označiť za zastarané a okolo roku 2035 zakázať. Európska únia v koordinovanej roadmape z júna 2025 odporúča začať s prechodom do konca roka 2026 a kritické systémy prejsť do roku 2030.
Čo presne máme pri Veredarii
Spojenie s Modulom
Keď Veredariu spáruješ s Modulom, preberá si z neho pripojenia a heslá.
Heslá v Module a v zálohe
Web a administrácia Modula

- FTPS a FTP.
Nie. Stačí Veredariu spárovať s Modulom; post-kvantové spojenie si vynúti sama.
Pre IT: technické detaily
Trezor Modula: AES-256-GCM.

Server passwords only over a channel that accounts for quantum computers too.
Post-quantum encryption is a new generation of encryption, designed to withstand not only today’s computers but future quantum ones as well. When Veredaria talks to Modulo, it does not just use it — it accepts nothing else: the connections and passwords it takes over from Modulo travel over a post-quantum channel only. A server that cannot do it is refused.

Harvest now, decrypt later.
A quantum computer able to break today’s encryption does not exist yet. The threat, however, starts today:
Someone on the way records encrypted traffic. They cannot read it yet — and they do not need to.
The recording sits on a disk. Passwords, contracts and personal data stay sensitive for five or ten years.
A powerful enough quantum computer would break the classic key exchange (RSA, elliptic curves) and decrypt the recording after the fact. A post-quantum exchange is designed so that even it cannot.
That is why regulators are planning for it: the US NIST proposes to deprecate classic asymmetric cryptography (RSA, ECC) around 2030 and disallow it around 2035. The European Union’s coordinated roadmap of June 2025 recommends starting the transition by the end of 2026 and moving critical systems by 2030.
What exactly Veredaria has
The Modulo link
Once you pair Veredaria with Modulo, it takes connections and passwords from it. It allows that connection only with a post-quantum key exchange and refuses a server that does not support it — it would rather not connect than send passwords over a weaker channel. Veredaria has the Modulo link from version 0.4.5; it is part of the public beta download from 0.7.0.
Passwords in Modulo and in the backup
In Modulo, connection passwords sit in a vault encrypted with AES-256-GCM. A backup of connections to a file encrypts the passwords with AES-256-GCM under a key from the backup password; without a backup password, no passwords are written to the file at all. 256-bit symmetric encryption is considered resistant to quantum computers too.
SFTP to your server
For SFTP, Veredaria prefers the hybrid ML-KEM-768 + X25519 from version 0.4.5 — the same one OpenSSH 10 uses. If the server does not know it, the classic exchange is used; that is the server’s decision. From version 0.4.6 it remembers each server’s key fingerprint (like known_hosts in OpenSSH) and stops and asks when a server presents a different key.
The website and Modulo administration
veredaria.com and the Modulo administration offer a hybrid post-quantum key exchange. A modern browser — Chrome and Edge on desktop from version 131, Firefox on desktop from 132, Safari from iOS and macOS 26 — uses it on its own; an older one still connects encrypted as before, just without the post-quantum part. Which browsers protect you →
You see how a connection is really encrypted
From version 0.4.6, Veredaria shows a label on every connection based on what was actually negotiated with the server: Post-quantum, Encrypted (classic) or Not encrypted (plain FTP). Clicking the label explains what it means.

Why it is an advantage
A list of connections and passwords to customers’ servers is exactly what is worth recording today and reading later. With Veredaria it travels from Modulo to the app only over a channel designed so that even a future quantum computer cannot decrypt it — with no silent fallback to weaker encryption. Companies without post-quantum protection still have that transition ahead of them.
What is not post-quantum yet
- FTPS and FTP. FTPS is not post-quantum and plain FTP is not encrypted at all. With SFTP, the exchange is post-quantum only when the server supports it.
- Website certificates. Certificate authorities do not issue post-quantum certificates yet. A certificate only proves the server’s identity at the moment of connecting; it has no bearing on “harvest now, decrypt later”.
- App signature. The Veredaria installation package is signed with a classic signature.
Questions
Are transfers to my server post-quantum too?
With SFTP, yes, if the server can do it: Veredaria prefers the same hybrid as OpenSSH 10, and a server that knows it (for example OpenSSH 10) negotiates it. FTPS is not post-quantum and plain FTP is not encrypted at all. The link to Modulo, where connections and passwords come from, is always post-quantum.
What if Veredaria does not connect to Modulo?
It means the server did not offer a post-quantum key exchange. Veredaria would then rather not connect than send passwords over a weaker channel. Modulo runs behind Cloudflare, which offers it.
So is it unbreakable?
No, and we do not call it that. The connection is also protected against a threat that classic encryption does not account for. Hence the hybrid: the classic and the new method together, so if one turns out weak, the other still protects.
Do I have to set anything up?
No. Just pair Veredaria with Modulo; it enforces the post-quantum connection on its own.
For IT: technical details
- Veredaria → Modulo: TLS 1.3 only, with X25519MLKEM768 as the single allowed group (classic X25519 + ML-KEM-768, NIST FIPS 203, August 2024), no fallback to a classic exchange. A server without ML-KEM (tested against github.com) fails the handshake.
- SFTP: preferred exchange mlkem768x25519-sha256 (as in OpenSSH 10), with fallback to classic if the server does not know it (verified against test.rebex.net); server key fingerprints remembered on first use (TOFU). FTPS: no post-quantum exchange.
- Connection backup: PBKDF2-SHA256 → AES-256-GCM, passwords only with a backup password. Modulo vault: AES-256-GCM.
